Brink Xbox 360 Review
By Tom Edden
Brink, I think is a very ignored game. It came out with an innovative style of gameplay and great new ideas to add to the world of shooters, yet no one bought it? Why? I bet if it was the same, but called “Call of Duty: Brink” I bet Millions would buy it. Anyway lets get on with the review.
Graphics – 8
Brinks graphics aren’t the best but they’re not PS1 standards either. They combine cartoon with realisim to create a great effect. The Graphics can stun you at one point, but dissapoint you the next. I would give the graphics a 8 out of 10.
Audio – 6.75
Brinks audio is Ok, there is’nt exactly any catchy tunes, just a few notes made into a creepy tune which runs through the menus. A great thing when creating your character is choosing a voice, you can go for a Jamacian-carribien style or a more gruff voice, you’ll her various voices throughout the battle stating “Low Ammo” or “captured the prisoner” I would give the audio a 6 and 3/4 out of 10.
Gameplay – 8
Brinks gameplay is fast. One thing that the game states the most is “keep moving” this is actually very usefull, because if you try and stay at the back and pick them off, its gonna be vice verca. So any snipers out there, Go Home. It can get tideous though, you’ve finished the campaign so you’re going off to multiplayer, oh wait, multiplayer is campagin with other people. Dissapointing. I would give the gameplay a 8 out of 10.
Controls – 9
Last but not least, the controls. Brink is very simmalar to your average FPS except it has a secret weapon: S.M.A.R.T. This is a very innovative way of moving over obsticles/terrain either then pressing A. Your running along and there is a container blocking the path, hold down LB and your character will sprint jump and grab on to it and so on, this is a great way to sneak up on enemies, its a lot less obvoius then gunning your way through the middle. I would give the controls a 9 out of ten.
Replay Value – 6
This game should probably be a bit cheaper as everything is a bit limited, after playing campagin over and over again the fun drains out of it, they should of put some multiplayer modes in to expand its lifespan. I would give the value for money a 6 out of ten.
Overall this is a very innovotive game, breaking free from the steel grip of Call of Duty. A few more improvements e.g More soundtracks, some multiplayer modes and a few more campagin and more people online at that, overall I would give it a 7 1/2 out of 10.
Overall – 7.5
Brink on Xbox 360 is available to buy from Amazon.
