Xbox 360 Crysis 2 – £22.99

Another offer from Game.co.uk this time it’s Crysis 2 released 25 March 2011.

We featured a special offer from Game.co.uk last month for Crysis 2 when it dropped to £24.99 which then was a great offer since the game was a little over a month old at the time.

Now a month on and the price has dropped further, and at £22.99 it is the cheapest around my some margin the next best prices being:

Is it worth getting?
In our opinion yes it is. If your a fan of COD and many will compare it to that it’s the sort of game that you will very much enjoy. Those who are not fans of FPS may want to give this a miss as there is little new that the game brings to genre.

The single player campaign is worthy of playing through and if you want a challenge then start straight on Super soldier difficulty, that way you will get the most out of the single player side of the game and with average times running into 8 – 10 hours to complete the game at this level you are getting more gameplay for your money.
The only thing we would say at this point is that there have been comments posted on various message boards around the internet about the achievement unlocked for doing such is a little hit and miss, although this will surely be patched in an update if not already.

Crysis 2 Xbox 360 – Review

The first thing you will notice when you start playing are the graphics which are pretty fantastic and visually the game is very pleasing on the eye.

What the does game add and makes it different to other’s in the genre is the ability to play the game in a more stealth mode rather than go in all guns blazing which is still possible but there is something quite satisfying in taking out the enemy one by one by using your invisible power.
It all depends on how you want to play the game, those familiar with Metal Gear Solid and the stealth side of things will understand the idea.

For anyone wondering about this being a sequel given the number 2 in the title and the need to play the first Crysis game then fear not as the story is independant. However we would recommend getting them both if you have played one and not the other as they are both very good games.

Overall a good game with pleasing visuals and a good story that helps improve the gameplay aspect further.

Game.co.uk have once again dropped the price of the Xbox 360 250GB this time to £159.99.

For those that follow the price of the console it’s not the first time the price has dropped as online retailers including the likes of Game.co.uk, Amazon and Comet jostle to become the market leader on price. These deals soon increase again though up to around the £175 mark which seems to be the norm against the RRP of £200 or so.

What does this mean?
What it does show is that either sales are slowing at the usual price and maybe the retailers have excess stock the are looking to shift.

Is this the best deal/offer?
If you want just the console then yes, the price has dropped as low as £149.98 a month or so ago but at the moment it is the cheapest 250GB version by around £15 (Very.co.uk next see here).

If however you are looking for a bundle then Game are also selling the Kinect along with this console priced at £219.99 meaning the Kinect is being sold for £60 which is a very good price given the RRP is double that and the cheapest Kinect on it’s own is around the £105 mark depending where you shop online (see our Kinect guide).

So if you are planning on buying an Xbox 360 console with Kinect in the near future then now would be a perfect time to snap up this offer from Game.

Fight Night Champion is a sports game that has the lot. It looks absolutely stunning and is packed to the brim with features and gameplay modes that will appeal to all kinds of fight fans. However, one area that might initially raise a few eyebrows among followers of the franchise is the new control system.

Gone is the Total Punch Control system of previous Fight Nights, which was based on rotations of the right analogue stick. In its place is a simpler to use system called Full Spectrum Punch Control, which sees you flicking the stick to perform punches.

Even slight variations in how you direct the stick are well reflected on-screen, allowing you to strike at multiple angles as you look to counter your opponent’s defence, and overall the punching is faster and more fluid than ever before. It’s certainly a more user friendly system, but some Fight Night loyalists will probably miss the old one, as the sensation of commanding a blow with your thumb using precise stick rotations arguably felt more rewarding.

Dodging works just as it always did, and it feels great when you manage to lean or duck out of the way of a big strike using a left trigger and stick combo, but blocking punches has been simplified too. It’s now semi-automated, so you only need to hold down the right trigger for your boxer to guard against incoming blows. That’s not to say it works as a fist-proof shield, however, because some combination punches do find a way through your guard.
